XML for the Web
XML is a complement to HTML. In most web applications, XML is used to transport data, while HTML is used to format and display the data.
This course provides an overview to that XML landscape and is geared to non technical, business people with some understanding of HTML, JavaScript and Java. In this course you gain an understanding of XML and its relationship to Common Gateway Interface (CGI), HTML, JavaScript, and Java. XML extends the markup capabilities of HTML and offers a powerful edge to web developers that you must acquire.
Details
During the course you will review basic concepts of XML. You will learn about XML parsers (courses that browsers use to load an XML document into memory); Document Object Model (DOM) to gain a standardized versatile view of a document’s contents, and to access and manipulate a document using standard structural definitions; XML Schema; XSLT (to transform an XML document into another XML document, or another type of document that is recognized by a browser); XPATH (to define path expressions that specify parts of an XML document); the Web Services Protocols and XML Databases. You will gain an overview of the XML technologies used to access and manipulate the structure of XML documents. At the end of the course you will be able to create enterprise level XML solutions. Prior knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and Java will be helpful.
